Mission Field: Kenya

Question: What did you learn growing up on the mission field?

Nathan: I grew up in Kenya on the east coast of Africa. I was born in Nairobi, spent the first 8 years or so in a small town called Tigoni, then I moved to Kijabe to start school at Rift Balley Academy. Living overseas has given me some very unique experiences that I don’t think many have. I learned how to push past diversity and learned how to get along with all different types of people. I also grew up learning how valuable family is to the way I live, they taught me how to push through adversity and how to lean on Christ during those times.

Question: Why did you choose a Christian college?

Nathan: I chose a Christian college primarily out of the desire to remain in a smaller population of people so that I could get to know people who had the same values and ideals that I did. Also, I knew that a Christian college would be a great environment to grow in my faith.

Question: How has CMSF helped you on your journey?

Nathan: CMSF has enabled me to afford to go to school here at Dordt. If it wasn’t for your generosity, I would not be able to continue my education here.

Question: What is your major and how do you plan to use it after you graduate?

Nathan: I am majoring in civil engineering. I want to try and go back onto the mission field using my engineering background to help people who need it. I believe that the opportunities to share God’s love through Christ’s love are endless.
